Maine Beechnut is the favorite of those who love an aggressive nutty smoke flavor for grilling beef, tuna steaks, bratwurst, or sausage.  Beechnut is stronger than hickory but does not overpower any entree.  We have customers who will not use any other species of wood chips or chunks for their favorite go to grilling or smoking.  Beechnut is only found in the northern and eastern zones of the United States where short growing seasons intensifies the smoke of one of the hardest trees in the forest.

"Beechwood aged" is a common phrase used in making beer because of its unique taste.  Do not soak your beechnut chips unless you want a special steam flavor.  Obviously, beer is a great soaking liquid for beechnut.  Enjoy!
